HANSEL Andre Lewis of Mai Mai Dam, Mounrt Sinai, West Canje was not required to plea to an attempted murder charge, when he appeared before Magistrate Adela Nagamootoo in the New Amsterdam Court on Friday.

Police said Lewis alias Smiley wounded Chris Burrowes with intent to murder him  on  January 1 during a misunderstanding at Republic Road, New Amsterdam.
Defence Attorney Ramesh Rajkumar made an unsuccessful bid for pre trial liberty after the Magistrate was informed that the alleged victim remains hospitalised.
The 35-year old Lewis, who previously lived in the United States of America, is currently unemployed and is expected to reappear at the New Amsterdam Court on January 18, for report and fixture.
