RICKEY Andrews, 18, of Lot 152 Laing Avenue, Georgetown, faced two robbery charges in front of Chief Magistrate Priya Sewnarine-Beharry yesterday. He pleaded not guilty to both, one of which said he robbed Travis Isaacs of a $15,000 valued cell phone on December 13 and the other alleged that, on December 8, he robbed Eliza Wharton of items valued $56,000 and, at the time, made use of personal violence on her.
Police Corporal Vinetta Pindar, prosecuting, said the latter virtual complainant was walking on King Street, also in the city, when the defendant choked her and took away her belongings.
The Prosecutor said Andrews was arrested and, based on additional information, he was identified as the person involved in the Isaacs robbery, too.
The Prosecutor objected to bail and informed the court that the defendant has similar cases pending and, if granted pre-trial freedom, is likely to interfere with the witnesses.
Consequently, Andrews was remanded to prison until January 24, 2013.
