Suspect in police deaths at Paramakatoi to be charged soon for possessing explosives : –had vowed suspect will face full force of the law for police deaths

ACTING Police Commissioner, Leroy Brumell yesterday told reporters that, in regard to the murder of the two cops at Paramakatoi, North Pakaraimas on October 17, police have a suspect in custody, and he will be charged shortly for being in possession of explosives. He explained that the language barrier had posed some difficulties for the police to communicate with the suspect, but he is of the opinion that the 176 pieces of Ibigel explosives found were stored for blasting purposes at the mining camp, where gold exploration activities are engaged in. He further noted that the four Brazilians found at the Karisparu, North Pakaraimas camp were illegally operating in Guyana.

The Top Cop was at the time speaking with reporters following the Guyana Police Force (GPF) Awards Ceremony, held at the Police Officers’ Mess at Eve Leary, Georgetown yesterday.

On December 8 last, a party of policemen conducted a search on a mining camp at Karisparu, North Pakaraimas, and found 176 pieces of Ibigel brand explosives.
Four Brazilian nationals were arrested, one of whom is a suspect in the murder of Police Constables 19510 Marlon Letlow and 21320 Ledon Aaron, whose bodies
were found at Paramakatoi on October 17 last, after they had left the Kato Police Station on patrol duties on October 14.

In an earlier and separate interview, Commissioner Brumell had told the media, just Friday last, that the suspect in the murder of the two constables can expect to face the full force of the law. He gave his assurance that the officers’ deaths were still being actively investigated, and vowed thus, “The perpetrators, when caught, will be brought to justice.”
