Motorcyclist dies after crashing into steel bridge

MOTORCYCLIST Raymond Shamlall, 37, of Better Success, died at Charity Hospital Wednesday night, shortly after crashing into a steel bridge rail at Paradise Village on the Essequibo Coast. He was riding his Honda 400 homeward, from Anna Regina around 20:00hrs when he swerved from a cow that was on the public road and lost control of the speeding machine.
According to reports, the motorbike caught fire on impact and ended up in a nearby canal while the motorcyclist was hurled several feet into the air and landed on the parapet.
Shamlall suffered severe body injuries, with his abdomen ripped open and guts protruding. His arms and feet were broken, too.
Scores of residents ran to the scene and rushed him to the hospital where he succumbed while receiving medical attention.
He has left to mourn his wife, Mantha, two children and other relatives.
