Brazilian charged following hinterland explosives find

A BRAZILIAN national has been charged in connection with the recent explosives find in the hinterland. Patrick Da Silva, 28, of Dead Boy Hill, North Pakaraimas, appeared before Chief Magistrate Priya Sewnarine-Beharry yesterday.
The charge he faced alleged that he was in possession of 176 explosive devices without a permit.
He pleaded not guilty and defence counsel, Glenn Hanoman requested that he be put on reasonable bail.
The lawyer said the defendant is in Guyana supervising a mining operation and surety was set at $75,000 until January 16, 2013.     (N. DeFreitas)
