GUYANA Tourism Authority (GTA) Director, Mr. Indranauth Haralsingh has said that the Main Big Lime has been transformed into a four-day family affair and Christmas Village.
He made this disclosure in an interview with the media yesterday at the GTA office at the Sophia Exhibition Site, where he pointed out that the streets would not be used, but the entire Avenue would host various booths selling and displaying crafts, local foods and other goodies that are associated with the holiday season.
He reiterated that it is a family affair and it would be appropriate for parents to bring out their children, as it would not be as noisy as the past Main Big Limes.
According to him, relevant and suitable music befitting the Christmas holiday would be featured this year.
He stated that the lighting and décor of the Christmas holiday would engulf the Christmas Village with attractions, such as the larger-than-life sized Santa Clause greeting everyone in front of the Bank of Guyana.
Haralsingh said that entertainment would be provided by various steel bands and local artists performing at various intersections of the activities, leading into the early nights of the village.
All Guyanese can expect a good time as they stroll through stores, restaurants and clubs which will be opened on those nights, he said, as he pointed out that the village would be larger since there is enough space to accommodate enlargement. He said that quite a lot more vendors can occupy spaces there in order to display what they have to offer.
He emphasized that one can take the family to the festivities and really say they had a great time; and what makes it even more exciting is that it will not just be a one-day affair, but would last for four entire days.
