House lot allottees overjoyed

Vishaul Singh: “It’s a pleasure for anybody to own their own house lot.

altI mean, it’s a step in the right direction; so hopefully it’s the first start of something more to come. Everybody wants to own their own home so having your own house lot is the first step and it’s a good start.”

Donna Isles: “I feel very blessed. I feel very happy to be the owner of a new house lot, most of all because I have three children and I think thatalt they will benefit most of all from this opportunity that I am gaining now. It will be in the long term for them. So I’m very happy. I thank God for it and I thank God for the President and the Minister of Housing for this opportunity that he has given us.”

altDiego Alphonso: “I feel blessed and highly favoured”
Kimberley Alphonso: “It feels very nice to finally own our land and we’re going to proceed to have our own house, the next step is to get our mortgage. I think (the housing sector) is really great. Congratulations to the Minister of Housing, I know he is working a lot and also the Ministry of Housing in helping persons to get their house lots and I am very proud and privileged to have one today.”alt

Marsha Baptiste: “I am very much happy. You know how long I was waiting on this? So when I got my call I was very much happy… Everybody can own a house lot and even the poor class can own something.”
alt
Howard Samaroo: “I feel great that I can come as a young professional and actually have access to the government giving us a portion of land here. I think many places in the world where I travel; I don’t think it is possible for young people to have this opportunity. As a board member also sitting on the CH&PA (Central Housing and Planning Committee), I think it (the housing sector) is one whereby it is advancing Guyana tremendously and poor people can have access to land.”alt

Barbara Lalchand: “I think the process was pretty good. It takes some time for everybody to get in order, but once that has been done everything was going very smooth. It was professionally done.”

alt Jolyan Lewis: I think this is a good gesture that at my age I’m going to be owning my own home and I think it’s a good initiative by the government…the only problem I have is the price of the house lot, I think we should get it at a more reasonable price. I think we’re developing…but I think we should do some more on the infrastructure so that when people move in they can spend more money on the house itself and not the land and so on.”
alt
Vernon Casey: “I feel great about acquiring my own home. I think the housing sector is improving greatly trying to satisfy everybody.”

altSean Belle: “It’s very nice to become independent as a young man. It’s a really nice gesture, the process is very fast.”

Jeduthun Harris with his very proud father: “I am very excited. I thank the Minister Irfaan Ali for working hard and that a young guy like me, at age 23, can obtain a house lot.”
