TUCVILLE and Marian Academy (MA) have set up the final showdown of the COURTS/Petra Pee Wee Schools Football Competition, following contrasting victories over their opponents at the Banks DIH Ground, Thirst Park yesterday. Once again, Tucville’s star player Simeon Hackett stepped up to the plate and put forth a great performance which helped secure their spot in the final. Tucville defeated North Georgetown 2-1 on penalty kicks after playing to a nil-all stalemate at full time.
Like last week against Redeemer, Hackett and DeAndre Linton scored their penalty attempts then Hackett returned to defend the uprights and make a crucial save which ensured the win.
In the other semi-final showdown, Marian Academy battled to a hard-fought 1-0 victory over West Ruimveldt. MA’s Shemroy Holder fired a cracking shot from about 20 yards out in the 32nd minute which was the decider.
There were eight scheduled matches yesterday but only six were contested since St Margaret’s and South Ruimveldt gained walkover victories from Ketley and Green Acres, respectively.
In other results, St Gabriel’s squeezed past the highly touted Redeemer 3-2 with Teon Forde (5th, 27th) netting yet another brace, while Raynard Bandhu (8th) completed their tally. Shemar Dover (15th) and an own goal (40th) accounted for Redeemer’s efforts.
St Pius recorded a comfortable 3-0 win over F.E Pollard as Beveney McGarrell recorded a hat-trick. He scored in the fourth, 24th and 40th minutes.
Enterprise won 2-0 over Sophia with goals coming from Izaunah Rogers (18th) and Leon Chesney (24th) while St Sidwell’s defeated Success Academy thanks to the golden goal scored by Kulayance Henry in the 27th minute.
