HARDAT Kumar, who is jointly charged with four others for the July 2011 robbery committed on businessman Malcolm Panday, at his Bel Air, Georgetown residence, was further remanded to prison on Thursday on a threatening language charge.
That happened when Kumar made another appearance before Chief Magistrate Priya Sewnarine–Beharry and pleaded not guilty to the offence, particulars of which said, on November 7, he made use of threatening language to Annie Ramsood, the wife of Malcolm Panday.
Recently Kumar was accused of attempting to obstruct the course of justice, in that he threatened to harm the relatives of his former accomplice turned prosecution star witness, Rabindranauth Seemangal and was also refused bail on that charge.
Previously, attorney-at-law Mr. Glenn Hanoman, prosecuting, told the court the issue is a serious one, given that Kumar had threatened to kill the sister and family of the prosecution’s chief witness.
Ms. Omeyana Hamilton, for the defence, said Kumar denies the allegations which are mere assertions.
Kumar will return to court today for his other case of alleged witness tampering.
Meanwhile, the robbery under arms case, involving Kumar, his aunt Chandrada Rampersaud, Jermaine Mitchell, Aubrey Simon and Rayon Jones, will continue on November 22.
