A STAR-studded Princes Street team put the hurt on Laing Avenue and sent a strong message to the competition on Thursday night at the Guinness Greatest of the Streets Futsal Tournament which was held at the National Cultural Centre Tarmac.
Laing Avenue lost 0-6 after being down by four goals at the half. Ronson Williams opened the scoring in the third minute then Kelvin McKenzie doubled the lead in the 11th minute. Approaching halftime, speedster Shevon Seaforth scored in the 17th and 20th minutes.
In the second half, Leon Grumble scored in the 26th and 27th minutes to put the victory way beyond doubt.
Queen Street Tiger Bay recorded a comfortable 2-0 victory over East Front Road as Deon Alfred (5th, 18th) recorded a double.
Defending Champions Back Circle defeated Norton Street West 2-1. They led by two goals within five minutes of play as Andy Duke scored moments after the kick off then they were gifted an own goal in the fourth minute. Nigel De Camp scored the opposition’s lone goal in the 16th minute but an equaliser proved too tough to get.
Four matches ended with a 1-0 result. In the opening match of the night, Bent Street needled Festival City with Frank Dover, the scorer. Sophia B had Josh Kamal scoring the decider against Island Allstar while Norton Street East won against East La Penitence through Radison George.
The other victory went to Globe Yard whose Lionel Grimes scored the lone goal against Albouystown A, who in turn also drew nil-all with Lodge Housing Scheme.
