Guinness Greatest of the Streets brewing intense rivalries

TWO action-packed nights of the Guinness Greatest of the Streets Football Tournament were contested over three days as the tournament got under way Saturday and continued last night at the National Cultural Centre Tarmac.

Another 16 teams took to the streets from 18:00hrs with D’Urban Street facing Sophia B then West Back Road versus South Ruimveldt, Festival City versus California Square and Stevedore HS against North Street West.
The other half of the night saw East La Penitence take on Kingston, Alexander Village battle with East Street, Broad Street B challenge Sohpia A and Lodge Housing Scheme oppose North Last Entrance.

On Saturday night at the Albouystown Basketball Court, the defending champions Back Circle kicked off the tournament against Cross Street and won 3-1. Andy Duke scored in the fourth, Devon Harris in the ninth and Dellon Fraser in the 18th minute while Desmond Cottam scored the only goal for the opposition.
Another top contender, Queen Street Tiger Bay, stamped their authority on Berlin 5-0 with Deon Alfred recording a helmet trick in the process. He scored in the fifth, eighth, 17th and 19th minutes while his teammate Godfrey Downer accounted for the other goal scored n the tenth minute.
Closing off the first half of the night was the Globe Yard 2-1 win over Laing Avenue, and  Leopold Street 3-2 win over Island All Stars.
During the feature half of the night, Albouystown Town B drew 1-1 with Hope Street Tiger Bay while Princes Street drew with Albouystown A in a match that also ended 1-1.
Recording wins were West Front Road and East Front Road who defeated Bent Street and Charlestown respectively, who were both sunk 2-0.
