2012 BCB/Tenelec Inc. : Khan, Thakurdeen spearhead PMKR to victory

FORMER West Indies Under-19 and Berbice all-rounder Zamal Khan slammed an unbeaten 80 to guide Port Mourant Karibee Rice (PMKR) to a comfortable victory over Blairmont Community Centre as the 2012 Berbice Cricket Board/Tenelec Inc. first division competition which continued recently, with fourth round matches.
After he had taken 2 for 35 from 6 overs to help restrict Blairmont to 201 for 9 in their 45 overs, Khan entered the fray with PMKR struggling at 55 for 3. Together with opening batsman Devendra Thakurdeen, they put on a 100-run partnership before Thakurdeen fell for 69 (10×4) at 155 for 5, but he (Khan) carried on with Chandrashekar Arjune (17*) to see his team to 203 for 4, reaching his second successive half-century, while hitting a total of seven fours and one six in his unbeaten innings.
Discarded national middle order batsman Gajanand Singh, who has been in fine form in the Ancient County, slammed 60 (7×4, 2×6) for Universal DVD Young Warriors who made 202 against a youthful Bermine lineup at the Cumberland ground.
In their reply, the visitors suffered an early batting collapse to be 41 for 4, before former national Under-19 batsman Anthony D’Andrade took charge and together with another former Guyana youth cricketer Jamally Odle, added 100 runs for the fifth wicket.
The demise of Odle who made 45 and later D’Andrade for 84 (5×4, 1×6) saw a Bermine batting collapse and they fell short by 3 runs, as they were dismissed for 199 in 45 overs..
Former Guyana wicketkeeper/batsman Anthony Bramble registered his second half-century of the competition for Skeldon Community Centre when he slammed 60 (6×4) in a winning effort against Bush Lot United Rising Star.
