Man held at Ogle Airport… : Woman on marijuana charge granted $400,000 bail

POLICE reported yesterday that Samantha Charles, 25, of Lot 135 Canterbury Walk, Beterverwagting has been charged with trafficking in narcotics on November 5.
She appeared at Sparendaam Court, also on East Coast Demerara before Magistrate Alex Moore and was granted $400,000 bail until December 21. Police said Charles, on Monday, November 5, had given a man a bag to send on a flight to Ekereku and ranks of the Narcotics Branch searched it at Ogle Airport and found 460 grammes of cannabis sativa (marijuana) inside.
Meanwhile, police took into custody a quantity of cannabis sativa (marijuana) that was found in a flex hose a man had on a flight to the interior.
Police reported that, about 06:20hrs on November 8, ranks of the Narcotics Branch, at Ogle Airport, East Coast Demerara, stopped and searched the man who was going to  Ekereku, Cuyuni, with 404 grammes of compressed marijuana concealed in the hose.
He was arrested and is in custody pending charges, which are expected to be laid shortly.
