SULVINO Gomes (no address given) appeared before Magistrate Leron Daley yesterday, charged with unlawfully assaulting his minor son. He pleaded not guilty to the November 5 offence but Police Corporal Denise Booker, prosecuting, informed the court that the defendant is an abuser and requested that the case engages the attention of the Child Care and Protection Agency.
The magistrate ordered a probation report on Gomes and put him on $25,000 bail until November 14.
Earlier, Defence Counsel Paul Fung-a-Fat claimed the boy is in the habit of going home late from school and his father tried to correct him.
