EZjet has raised strong objections to an article on its flight cancellations in the Kaieteur News which appeared as a front page headline.
The management of the airline expressed the view that the article was intended to scare the public by intimating that the flight cancellations were connected to the issue relating to the resignation of the former CEO Sonny Ramdeo.
“EZjet on 25 September 2012 notified the U.S. Department of Transportation that it will cancel 26 flights originally scheduled to operate on the JFK-GEO route on Thursdays. These cancellations were necessary in order to facilitate the airline operating a flight on Thursdays to Toronto. As reported to the U.S. Department of Transportation, any passengers booked on the Thursday flights were rebooked for other days or offered refunds. All passengers opted to fly on other days and remain as EZjet customers,” the airline said.
It added: On November 4, 2012 the Kaieteur News reported that EZjet had cancelled the flights however, trying to scare the public. Kaieteur News did not contact EZjet for comments or clarification of the article prior to its publication. Had the Kaieteur News contacted EZjet, the airline would have notified them of the circumstances surrounding the schedule changes. Airlines change schedules on a daily, weekly and monthly basis.”
EZjet’s management also said it is concerned as to why a schedule change has to make the front page of the Kaieteur News, misleading passengers.
“EZjet still believes that the inaccurate publications and continued attacks on the airline is due to certain individuals within the Richmond Hill community that wants to see EZjet fail so they can go back to charge high fares to consumers,” the airline charged.
