GBTI Impromptu Speech Competition – Queen’s College, Annandale Secondary progress to second round

Queen’s College and Annandale Secondary School were the second and third schools to progress into the Second Round of the GBTI Impromptu Speech Competition in the past week.

altOn October 24, Annandale Secondary School emerged victorious against Richard Ishmael Secondary School with 577 points while the latter scored 495 points. The best speaker for that team was Ms. Allison Thomas from Annandale Secondary who presented on the topic “Free Education should be provided at the University”.
On October 25, Queen’s College won with 780 points against President’s College who scored 634 points. The best speaker for that match was Ms. Nathifa Williams of Queen’s College who presented on the topic “Someone who has inspired me very much in life is…”.
On both days, the Panel of Judges had similar comments to share regarding the presentations. They felt that the presentations could have been a bit more detailed and that the students could generate more points while giving their presentations. The Judges urged the participants that as they move on to the next round to think carefully about their topic before presenting.
Round one of the Impromptu Speech Competition continues this week and will have participation from the following schools: Covent Garden Secondary, Christ Church Secondary, Zeeburg Secondary, The Bishops’ High, St. Stanislaus Secondary, Cummings Lodge Secondary, St. John’s Secondary, Central High School, Diamond Secondary, St.Rose’s High, Marian Academy and Stewartville Secondary.
