THE Guyana Relief Council (GRC) hosted a farewell function last Wednesday, at its Ruimveldt, Georgetown office, for the departing Chinese Ambassador to Guyana, Yu Wenzhe and his wife, Tang Guizhi.
Chair of the GRC, Mrs. Yvonne Hinds was among other senior officials of the agency who offered their warmest and best wishes to the couple. Hinds said the diplomat and his wife have always been of great support to the GRC and assisted in its efforts to help the less fortunate.
The ambassador said what he will miss the most is the tremendous support he received over the years he spent here and described it as time well spent.
He said Guyana is a place he surely would never forget, as this beautiful land has made him realise how much he loved being here.
He expressed his gratitude to the GRC as he accepted a departure gift of remembrance and remarked on all the excellent work in which the Council has been involved.
