Caribbean Comedy Fest set to stir Guyana’s creative fire

LINK-UP Media and Vision Sound Promotion will join other sponsoring entities to bring to Guyana the very exciting and entertaining ‘Caribbean Comedy Festival’,   another major event to be held at the Thirst Park Ground next Sunday, starting from 7:00pm.

This event is set to be the biggest comedy event to hit Guyana in 2012, and is sure to have patrons laughing and begging for more. The Caribbean Comedy Festival will feature the best of the best from across the region, including Nikki Cosby, Errol Fabian and Learie Joseph from Trinidad and Tobago; Mac Fingal from Barbados; ‘Fat-Man’ George from Grenada; Birdman from Antigua, and Guyana’s four best comedians, Chow-Pow, Henry Rodney, Kwasi and Odessa.

Patrons to this dynamic show will be able to relax with friends or family members in an open atmosphere, and enjoy a night full of laughter and excitement. The event will be hosted by the Legend of storytelling and comedy, Paul Keens Douglas from Trinidad.

The intent behind this festival is that it be established as an annual calendar event, taking place every October month moving forward.

There will also be at intermission a special comedy clash involving members of the audience who think they have what it takes to evoke raucous nonstop laughter from the audience. The winner of that encounter will be $20,000 richer instantly, besides collecting other special prizes.

Target audience
This EVENT is designed to reach a wide cross section of patrons because of its dynamic nature. The presence of local and international mainstream comedians will satisfy many genres, ethnicities and demographics. This show is ideally suited to everyone looking for a good bellyful of laughter.

One of the main objectives of this comedy festival is to create a different form of entertainment, one that the entire family can enjoy; and the show is intended to reach people from every walk of life. It is also the organisers’ hope to inspire and attract new talent to this cultural art form, which seems to be dying a slow death throughout the Caribbean. Their aim is to show young upcoming comedians that there can be a very lucrative career from being a professional comedian, once they continue to work hard at their craft.

The organizers say it is also their objective to showcase the diversity and uniqueness of our Caribbean culture on one big stage — to enjoy the different lingo, the different accents, and of course the belly full of laughter that makes us all Caribbean people.
