History is replete with collaboration between the criminal world and politicians/lawyers and political parties.

In the 1920s and 1930s in the U.S., we saw the naked collaboration between politicians and the mafia and the mob and this relationship continued for a very long time and may still be in existence, albeit in a different form and degree.
The U.S. government recruited mercenaries with the help of the mafia for the infamous and unsuccessful Bay of Pigs invasion of Cuba in an effort to topple Fidel Castro’s government in 1961. The apartheid South African government recruited mercenaries to help in its fight against the ANC; in Latin America we saw numerous instances of politicians being in bed with criminals.
Coming closer home we have the experience of how the U.S. government used criminals to bomb the Cubana Airways plane in 1976, during this very month (October), killing 76 persons including 11 Guyanese.
During the turbulent 1950s here, foreign forces in collaboration with their local lackeys recruited criminals to help unleash terror, mayhem and destruction of immense magnitude in their effort to destabilise and bring down the Dr Cheddi Jagan-led government.
In the late 1970s and early 1980s we saw how the PNC government used the House of Israel, led by U.S. fugitive, Rabbi Washington (David Hill) to unleash terror on the then opposition. In 1997 we saw the PNC in bed with the criminals again, unleashing terror and creating mayhem in their attempt to remove President Janet Jagan.
And just under a decade ago we witnessed how opposition elements were in cahoots with the Buxton criminal gang, and describing the gang members as ‘Freedom fighters’. It was during this period that an offshoot of the Buxton gang was established in Agricola and from circumstantial evidence, a former Police Commissioner along with opposition politicians, were closely involved with this offshoot.
Criminal Linden ‘Blackie’ London was branded as a hero by the PNC, a party that draped his coffin with the colours of the National Flag and a special funeral ceremony was hosted by the party at the Square of the Revolution.
Over the past week we have seen a clear pattern of opposition politicians working hand in glove with criminals to unleash terror and create mayhem and hysteria at Agricola.
The strategy here is to stretch out the police into a state of battle weariness and fatigue and, therefore, neutralize them and to drive fear into people which would make them reluctant of going to work thus slowing down or halting the wheels of government and business and commerce which naturally subverts the national economy.
One prominent politician and lawyer was seen handing out placards to bus operators of a particular route in an effort to draw them into the so called terror plot against God in Heaven knows what.
When we look at the recent Lethem arms cache find, the  recent tone of politicians and of course what happened at Linden and what is happening currently at Agricola, one cannot help to conclude that there is a well orchestrated and organised movement between criminal networks and the political opposition to destabilize and remove the current government because, somehow, they feel that the combined, one-seat majority entitles them to hold the reins of  government. And on many occasions they have been behaving as if they are indeed the government.
Agricola may be one of the criminal enclaves, but what we need to examine is how many more Agricolas may be out there only waiting for the right time to strike.
In this regard, the security forces need to intensify their intelligence work in order to unearth, if indeed there are more Agricolas, those who are responsible for masterminding and organizing these criminal acts, and bring all the perpetrators to justice using the full force of the law.
The Guyanese people need to be removed from the siege of fear that has enveloped them, thanks to the collaboration between power-hungry and vindictive politicians who are in bed with criminals to fashion their narrow and selfish agenda.
