JUSTICE Brassington Reynolds, on Friday last, welcomed recently graduated law student Ms. Dhanika Singh to the Bar and granted her permission to practise her profession in the Courts of Guyana.
Ms. Singh’s petition for admission was presented by Attorney-at-Law, Mr. Teni Housty.
Mr. Housty said that she had been successful in her studies and was assured of success at the Bar.
The admission ceremony of the young lawyer of 247 Cedar Court, Lamaha Gardens, attracted a crowded court room of colleagues and friends, who had come to wish her all the best.
Judge Reynolds, in accepting her admission to practice, told her that he was pleased to accept her application without any reservation whatsoever to practise law in the Courts of Guyana.
He also told her that the presence of her many friends and colleagues was testimony of the high esteem in which she was held and the high level of expectation they had for her.
The judge advised her, among other things, to conduct herself with decorum and exhorted her to be true to her oath.
His last advice to her was to continue reading Law and to remember always that there is no substitute for preparation in relation to her cases.
Ms. Singh, who was loud in her praise for her parents, her tutors and friends and to the judge for his kind advice, promised to adhere to the ethics of the profession.
