Braithwaite’s perfect shoot puts Guyana ahead in Milex Cup

GUYANA’S Lennox Braithwaite continued his good form to put Guyana on top in the Long Range Milex Cup of the West Indies Fullbore Shooting Competition which continued yesterday at the Timehri  Ranges. Braithwaite shot a perfect score of 100 points and 11 V-Bulls out of 100 points and 20 V-Bulls as Guyana established an unassailable lead at the end of the 900 yards and 1 000 yards shoot.
Braithwaite will be receiving a special trophy for this score which was the highest score by an individual in the team match. The team consisted of Mahendra Persaud, Ryan Sampson, S. Douglas, Ransford Goodluck, Braithwaite, John Fraser, Dylan Fields and Paul Slowe.
In the 900-yard shoot Guyana scored 364 points and in the 1 000-yard shoot he accumulated 390 points for a combined score of 754 points. Apart from Braithwaite’s score of 100, support came from the captain Persaud and Fields who both accumulated 98 points.
Coming in second were Trinidad and Tobago who scored 338 points at 900 yards and 377 points at 1 000 yards for a second best total of 715 points. T&T were led by C. Awong who accumulated 98 points in the two distances.
Jamaica were third with 701 points and they were led by Wayne McNair and John Nelson who shot 93 points and 92 points. Antigua and Barbuda were fourth with 695 points and Barbados were fifth with 681 points.
The Bermudans accumulated only 230 points because their team was short of members.
Today, the action continues in the Milex Cup with the 300-, 500- and 600-yard categories.
