DEPUTY Commissioner of Police (Law Enforcement) Seelall Persaud said, yesterday, that the two policemen, Jamal Lewis and Warren Blue, for whom wanted bulletins were issued after the murder of Agricola resident Shaquille Grant, 17, are still at large. The teen was killed when ranks of lawmen discharged a volley of bullets at several young men they had confronted in the village on September 11.
The Crime Chief said the International Criminal Police Organisation (INTERPOL) will be notified and they will also be on alert for the fugitives.
Persaud said, legally, there is no evidence to suggest the wanted duo left Guyana but they still cannot be located presently.
The wanted bulletins were sent out after Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) Shalimar Ali-Hack advised that the three policemen, who carried out the operation in Agricola be charged for the unlawful killing of Grant.
Lewis and Blue, along with Terrence Wallace, who alone made a Court appearance, have been jointly charged with the capital offence but the other two failed to appear on October 2.
Grant was fatally shot when a squad of cops surprised a group of young men who were under a shed in Agricola.
Police claimed the youths first discharged bullets at them and they returned fire, resulting in the death of Grant and injuries to Romel Bollers before three others were arrested, but released later after relatives and others met with the Acting Police Commissioner Leroy Brumell.
The shooting took place about 12:10 hrs on September 11 in Caesar Street, Agricola where Grant, of Lot 12 ‘BB’ Eccles, East Bank Demerara, was killed and Bollers, 20, of Brutus Street, Agricola, was injured.
A .38 Smith and Wesson revolver was also recovered from the scene by Police.
