No opposition hue and cry with recent arms cache find

THERE is no hue and cry from the opposition with the recent arms cache find at Lethem, only muted undertones as to “how the police find out.” There is good reason for this response because the forces of destabilisation and lawlessness have been dealt a severe blow in the preemptive strike by the police.

Why should they speak out or even highlight something that shows up a weak spot in their ongoing campaign to create havoc? Certainly, this is bad public relations for the criminals and their opposition allies. So there is this usual brushing aside of the issue or pretending that it never happened. Whenever the police seem to have the upper hand, and this case is no exception, there is always a down play in news reporting. Conversely, if the police dug up that place and turned up empty handed then all hell would have broken loose in reportage. Culprit media would have run headlines such as “Police harassment of innocent Amerindian family” or “Police in an attempt to restore its damaged image are on a witch hunt” “The police need special training to carry out an investigation’ and the news keep coming.
When the police are on top of the situation you will have lawyers of the likes of Hanoman claiming his client was beaten and tortured by the police.
These comments are coming at a time when suspect high priced attorneys are pandering to the criminal and subversive public.
Hanoman can and will make such outlandish statements judging from the fact that he is there as a lawyer/liar for the money whereas, the police are there to protect and serve us, the law-abiding, taxpaying public. He has his rights and the police have theirs also.
What these lawyers must be cognisant of is how come these seemingly poor souls as the teen-aged accused can readily engage a high priced lawyer? And here’s my point, these lawyers believe that the populace out there are so gullible to believe such arguments that this youngster is “innocent” when all the facts prove otherwise.
Torture is a convenient term used to denigrate the police when carrying out their designated duties as peace officers and lawyers are the chief culprits in this regard. Those statements have their audience. However, I am not in the least worried by it judging from the fact that the police must get the information required from the prisoner. Barring this they would have failed in their mandate. The criminals that we have today are well trained in the art of deception and they will do whatever it takes to throw the police off the trail of this high profile case. The criminal is also well briefed in the operation of the opposition’s mind so they are working the system to the limit. In this regard he must begin to volunteer information to the lawmen as to the bigger fishes behind all of this; trust me the police will get to the bottom of this one.

At the end of the day the security of a nation is at stake and the police who have been mandated to carry out its duties must do so without fear or favour. The police are not answerable to Hanoman, Benschop, Kissoon or even the government. Putting it mildly, they are duty bound to protect the people of Guyana. Barring this they would have failed miserably. I am of a positive view let the police do their work.
