THE third Day of Interaction for 2012, organised by the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sport/National Sports Commission in collaboration with the Regional Democratic Council of Region 2, is scheduled for the Amerindian Village of Wakapoa in the Pomeroon River tomorrow. Wakapoa is a new addition to the areas of the Day of Interaction. The residents are already enthused and have shown great interest and are preparing well for the day’s activities which will include football, dominoes, circle tennis, volleyball, softball cricket. There will also be novelty events such as track and field.
The day’s proceedings will commence with an opening ceremony which will include a March Past of athletes. In attendance will be the Regional Chairman, Parmanand Persaud, who will give the welcome remarks, Director of Sport Neil Kumar and Minister of Culture, Youth and Sport, Hon. Dr Frank Anthony who will make motivational remarks and declare the Day of Interaction open.
Prizes will be given for the best banner, largest contingent and best uniformed group.
At the completion of the activities, outstanding performers will be rewarded with trophies. To encourage the development of sport in the community and its surroundings, sports gear and equipment will be presented to individuals, schools and communities.
