THE XXI Pan American Junior Badminton Championships which is being held in Alberta, Canada concluded last Saturday for the Guyana Team which claimed two medals. Guyana’s Priyanna Ramdhani finished second in one of her categories and landed bronze medals in the other two categories. She competed in the Girls’ Singles, Girls’ Doubles and Mixed Doubles.
Ramdhani’s performance meant that Guyana was the only Caribbean country that earned a medal in the Championships.
In the Girls’ Singles final Ramdhani lost to Cassandra Yu of USA 21-7, 21-5. In the Girls’ Doubles Semifinal, Ramdhani partnered with Canada’s Valeena Van Heukelon but unfortunately lost to Karina Chan and Tammy Xie of USA 21-12, 21-7.
In the Mixed Doubles Semifinal Ramdhani partnered with Gustavo Salazar of Peru and lost to the team of Erick Doung and Cassandra Yu from the USA 21-13, 17-21, 21-11.
