BASSETERRE, St Kitts (CMC) – No play was possible on the opening day of two of the three 5th round matches in the WICB Under-15 competition in St Kitts yesterday. Officials were forced to abandon the opening day of the fixture between Guyana and Jamaica scheduled for Warner Park as well as the other encounter between Barbados and Trinidad and Tobago at Conaree Sports Complex for the same reason.
Day one was abandoned without a ball being bowled because of persistent showers throughout the day, cricket officials in St Kitts have confirmed.
However, some action occurred after the scheduled tea interval over at Edgar Gilbert Complex where Leeward Islands are playing the Windward Islands.
At stumps, Leewards were 51 for the loss of Tyrone Williams who made 17. Ras Powell is not out on 28.
In fourth round action over the weekend, points leaders Barbados crushed Leeward Islands to record their fourth straight win while Trinidad and Tobago and Windward Islands also secured victories.
