Court told… GUN, AMMO FOUND IN CROTCH OF REMANDED DEFENDANT

TROY Burnette, charged with being in possession of an unlicensed firearm and several live rounds of ammunition, was remanded to prison yesterday. Acting Chief Magistrate Priya Sewnarine-Beharry, before whom he appeared and pleaded not guilty, upheld an objection to bail for him by Police Corporal Simone Payne, prosecuting.
The allegations against Burnett said, on July 21, in John Street, Georgetown, he had a .32 ‘Taurus’ pistol and seven live matching rounds.
The Prosecutor said the defendant (no address given) was in the company of another when a police patrol stopped him after he was seen acting in a suspicious manner and a search of his person yielded the gun and ammunition in his crotch.
The prisoner is to make his next appearance on August 7.
