GKRS supports GTTA once again

EVEN as preparations for the 7th Caribbean Junior Cadet Table Tennis championships intensify, corporate entity Grace Kennedy Remittance Services (Guy) Limited (GKRS) has once again contributed to ensuring that Team Guyana players are well equipped to take on the competition in Jamaica from July 20 to 25, 2012. Under its Western Union Brand, the company handed over an undisclosed sum to the Guyana Table Tennis Association (GTTA), with the amount ensuring that one of its young prospects’ airfare to the tournament is secure, while a quantity of water bottles was also donated to the team.
Making the presentation at the Water Street Head Office, Marketing Assistant Nadine Luthers said table tennis is one of the sporting activities in the country, which have gained the attention of many.
”It is becoming a sport everyone loves and the GTTA over the years has shown us that it can produce players who have medalled at these championships.
“The association has gained the reputation of being proactive in spreading the game throughout the length and breadth of Guyana and has worked hard in ensuring that our young players are given the opportunity to represent Guyana,” said Luthers, who also wished the local squad well and expressed the hope that they will be victorious at the championships.
Receiving the cheque on behalf of the GTTA, assistant treasurer Deidre Edghill expressed gratitude to Western Union’s continued support of the game.
The team will challenge Trinidad, Barbados, Jamaica, Dominican Republic, Aruba, St Martin and St Kitts for top honours at these championships.
The players are currently practising daily at the Cliff Anderson Sports Hall under the watchful eyes of the national coaches.
