Defending champs Jamaica to clash with Barbados in Regional Under-15 opener … Pace Wickets Bonus Points System to be used

ST JOHN’S, Antigua – Defending champions Jamaica will clash with Barbados in the opening round of the West Indies Cricket Board Regional Under-15 Tournament in St Kitts.
The major clash of the first round will take place at Warner Park where West Indies and New Zealand recently concluded their One Day International clash.
The other two matches in the round will see home team Leeward Islands contest against Trinidad and Tobago at Molineaux and Guyana take on Windward Islands at Conaree.
The tournament will consist of 15 two-day matches played at three venues and under tailor-made rules for junior cricket, bowling off tomorrow and concluding on July 31.
The tournament will see the continuation of the use of the Pace Wickets Bonus Points System which was implemented by the WICB to encourage teams to use their fast bowlers. The system will award teams 0.5 points for each wicket taken by a fast bowler on that team. All bonus points will be added to the match points.
As is customary, the WICB will also host a Player Development Seminar during the tournament. WICB Player Relations Officer Ayana Cooper, in conjunction with a former international player, will make presentations to the region’s Under-15 cricketers.
