THE FOURTH annual Inter-Corporation Dominoes Tournament which is organised by Next Level Domino Club was officially launched in the Sports Club of the main sponsor Banks DIH Limited yesterday and is set to be played on July 27-28 at the same venue. This year’s tournament was once again branded by the sponsor’s R1 Vodka and will see a cash increase in the top prize of $25 000, which means the victorious team in this year’s tournament will cart off $175 000.
That incentive will be added to nine medals and the Championship Trophy while the second-place finishers will receive $100 000, third-placers $50 000 and fourth-placers $25 000, as well as trophies and medals.
Individual prizes for the Most Valuable Player (MVP) in the final and first double love are also up for grabs and according to co-organiser Roderick Harry, last year’s tournament had 55 teams vying for top honours and they have all signalled their intention to participate in the upcoming event.
Banks DIH’s Public Relations Officer (PRO) Troy Peters said his company is indeed pleased to support the Next Level Domino Club in hosting the event since it brings some form of unity in the wider society.
Lyall Gittens, the other organiser for the tournament urged the teams to contact him early to get registered for the event because no late entries will be taken on the day, adding that they are strictly against guest players and any team found with a player not from the organisation will be disqualified immediately.
Teams can contact Gittens on 629-8128 or 697-2929 for registration. A fee of $9 000 is charged to be a part of the event, with the organisers donating $2 000 for each team registered to a charitable organisation.
