The jury system should be done with

IN the Jagdeo  vs Freddie Kissoon case, Abdulla told the court that he was asked to look at an article in which the former President is quoted as accusing Hughes of being associated with criminals. I knew from day one when Nigel Hughes removed a surveillance tape from the gas station killing in Buxton this man would be bigger than the law and larger than life.
There is no other country in the world where this behaviour of any lawyer would be accepted.
Many people in Guyana to this day have a great thinking and strong feeling that Nigel Hughes has some justice people in his pocket.
The only way to find out is for government to hire competent prosecutors.
Taxpayers won’t mind paying for competent prosecutors in trying their case against Nigel Hughes to put known criminals behind bars, then citizens will see and know how he wins cases.
The justice system is so corrupt in Guyana that prosecutors can’t win high-profile cases without eyewitnesses.
In my opinion, these eyewitnesses are paid not to show up in court; therefore, cases are dismissed.
Police officers do not show up in court to testify; therefore cases are closed but still police officers remain on the job to do same over and over.
Jurors go into deliberation room only to be intimidated and sometimes threatened but refuse to speak after the fact. Some jurors take bribes once the offer is large.
This is why the jury system should be done with and let judges deliberate the faith of known high-profile criminals. Then the onus will be on the heads and minds of judges to find the accused guilty or not.
Then let’s see how many more criminals  represented by Nigel Hughes will go free.
Let’s see if some judges can be bought off.
