THE Iwokrama International Centre on Thursday presented the Guyana Police Force (GPF) with a plaque as a special appreciation award in recognition of the police E & F Division’s continuously reliable and efficient support to the Iwokrama River Lodge at Kurupukari, with maintenance of law and order and forest conservation. Dr. Raquel Thomas made the presentation on behalf of Iwokrama, and she lauded the willingness of police ranks to assist when required, thereby creating a positive working relationship between the two agencies. She expressed hope for improved cooperation between the two agencies in the future.
Besides normal policing, the ranks interact with the Iwokrama personnel through talks on pertinent issues, such as domestic violence and the use of drugs.
Second in command of the E & F Division, Superintendent Lawrence Kissoon, who received the plaque on behalf of the GPF, expressed sincere gratitude to Iwokrama for the significant gesture of appreciation and recognition, and pledged the Force’s continuous support for forest conservation and the work of the Iwokrama staff.
The simple ceremony was held in the Conference Room of the Police Commissioner, in presence of the GPF senior management team, which included acting Commissioner, Mr. Leroy Brumell, DSM, and divisional and branch commanders.
