POLICE, on Tuesday, issued a bulletin for Pooran Jaundoo, stating that he is wanted for questioning in relation to the murder of Abdul Majid on April 27 last. Anyone with information that may lead to his arrest is asked to contact the police on telephone numbers 333-3876, 333-2191, 333-2151, 225-8196, 225-6411, 911 or the nearest station.
Police assured all informants of strict confidence and said Jaundoo is a 22 years old East Indian, with known addresses as Lot 57 New Housing Scheme, Belvedere Settlement, Corentyne; Second Street, Overwinning, Greater New Amsterdam, also in Berbice and Lot 31 Section ‘B’, Cotton Tree, West Coast Berbice.
Previously, on May 22, two women appeared before Magistrate Krisendat Persaud at Springlands Court, Corentyne, charged with murdering Majid, 42, an overseas-based Guyanese, who, at the time of his death, was holidaying in Guyana.
The accused, Hemwattie Abdulla called Anita, 37, a nurse of Lot 11602 – 132nd Street, Ozone Park, New York, United States (U.S.) and Seerojonie Permaul known as Usha, 42, of Lot 52 Belvedere Housing Scheme, Corentyne, were both remanded to prison.
Abdulla was arrested at the Central Police Station, New Amsterdam, where she went to identify the body of her husband, Majid.
Prior to Majid being identified, by his brother Abdool Hasheed Majid, police had said the corpse of an unidentifiable man, with the scalp missing and other injuries, was found at the Number 56 Village foreshore, Corentyne, on Friday, April 27.
It is suspected that Majid was killed for his money, some from an insurance policy, during a visit to Guyana.
