MINISTER of Home Affairs, Clement Rohee on Saturday publicly congratulated Deputy Commissioner of Police (Acting), Leroy Brumell and Deputy Assistant Commissioner of Police (Law Enforcement), Seelall Persaud, 24-hours after they were appointed at Office of the President by President Donald Ramotar, which he deems as an important signal to the police force and the people of Guyana. He was at the time speaking at the opening ceremony at Guyana Police Force (GPF) Zara Computer Centre at Felix Austin Police College, ‘B’ Division,
Adventure, Corentyne, Berbice.
Rohee said that both men are competent and they will be accountable to the administration on the activities of the GPF because government has no intention in standing still and letting the leadership of the police force be tainted. In this regard Mr. Rohee said the appointments of Brumell and Persaud are major steps in the transformation of the GPF.
He said that together the men appointed will take decisive decisions in running the police force and they also would pay great attention to its middle management because they have a reservoir of Cadet Officers to provide critical and orderly transition of senior ranks to other levels.
Rohee told the gathering that notwithstanding the critics of the GPF the appointments were made after consultations by the administration and it is a milestone appointment in which Brumell and Persaud were both recognised and take up leadership positions at the highest level in the GPF.
