A MAN, busted with three and a half grammes of cocaine, was remanded to prison yesterday, when he appeared before Magistrate Hazel Octive-Hamilton. Steve Richards (no address given) pleaded not guilty to the charge, which said, on May 29, he had the narcotic for the purpose of trafficking.
The defendant told the court, he and several other persons were gaming when the police conducted a search and found the drug in a bottle in some bushes.
He said a policeman advised him to get his relatives to bring some money and he will not get locked up.
But Police Corporal Simone Payne, prosecuting, objected to bail and said the prohibited substance was in a container next to the defendant when he was arrested.
Richards will make his next court appearance on June 28.
