Several held, questioned about murder of security guards
CRIME Chief Seelall Persaud said, Thursday, that a man is in custody assisting police with investigations into the murder of Karamchand Pamcho, 71, of Lot 241 Nigg Settlement, Corentyne, Berbice. The Assistant Commissioner of Police revealed that the victim’s colleague is still being detained and is a suspect in the killing of the elderly watchman.
Pamcho was bludgeoned to death after it was reported that a group of men invaded the Fung-A-Fat Poultry Farm, at Don Robin, where he was a guard, on Monday, May 14 about 06:45 hrs.
It was reported that, about 07:15 hrs, the man’s employer arrived at the location and found the security guard in a pool of blood, with head injuries.
The other man, who was also on duty Sunday night, was tied up and placed in a pig pen on the premises.
Pamcho was taken away and fatally beaten after he had, reportedly, told the men that he recognised them.
His assailants escaped without removing anything from the farm.
Police are also investigating how another elderly security guard, Rudolph Narine, 60, of Logwood, Enmore, East Coast Demerara, was killed.
He was discovered dead at his place of employment, about 06:30 hrs.
There were injuries to his head, his throat was slit, mouth gagged and feet tied, at the entrance to the grocery store where he was a watchman.
The place had been broken into and merchandise stolen.
Several persons were held for questioning about the burglary and murder but no one was charged either, although investigations are ongoing.
