Entertainment Personality Profile…

Vanilla releases scorching new single
After a few months of being away from the entertainment spotlight, three-time Road March Queen Melissa ‘ Vanilla’ Roberts is all ready and set to launch yet another spicy single, which will be featured on the soon-to-be-released Blue Horizon Album from Kross Kolor Records.
Lil Bit’, the riveting new selection which was written by her manager, was officially pre-launched recently via the Internet.  The official launching took place on April 28, 2012 on 98.1 FM radio waves, and was made a resounding success with Entertainer.
This hot new single can also be accessed at youtube.com/vanillagy and islandmix.com. Fans were also able to download the song for free as part of the song bird’s birthday celebrations. Additional information can be obtained from her Facebook page.
Asked about any challenges she had with the song, the talented songstress stated that she recorded it three times, but her producer didn’t like the feel until after her fourth attempt. The song talks about women who are taken for granted, and who decided to seek companionship in an arrangement better known as ‘friends with benefits’.
Melissa Roberts was the name given to her by her parents at birth on 4th April, but Vanilla was the name given to her by her boyfriend a few weeks into their relationship.
This stunning 26-year-old lady is an individual of passion and extreme drive. Her personality has widespread effect that touches people wherever she goes.
She was never a singer. Well, maybe in her bathroom……. but because she worked at a studio, she was encouraged to record a tune by her fellow artistes, but she took up the challenge when she was approached by Mr. Simon, who is now her manager.
In 2005, she recorded her first song, “Koc it up”, on the Kross Kolor Label. The song was featured on the annual compilation album “Wine till yuh drop volume 2”. Later that year, Vanilla recorded her second song, “Boy”, and that propelled her into the realms of the elite performers in Guyana. In that same year, she teamed up with soca sensation Lilman to record the single “Wine it up”. For Mash 2007, Vanilla recorded the song ‘Queen of the Band’, which eventually won the Road March competition, beating the reigning Soca Monarch ‘Malo’ and thirty others. This was a significant achievement, since this was her first year in that competition. In 2008, she lost the Road March crown by one point. In 2009, she regained the Road March Crown with the song ‘Rude’, which also placed second at the Soca Monarch Competition. Vanilla is an artiste with tremendous potential; and with the right guidance, she can achieve greatness.
Vanilla is a well rounded individual with titles of the GABBF Miss Body Fitness Novice 2006 and Miss Body Fitness Intermediate 2007. She is also a video editor, director and manager at her company. She loves dancing and hanging out with her friends.
Other exciting releases from the song diva over the years include her 2012 Carib Soca Monarch entry, ‘Rage’, ‘Rude’ ; her entries in a prior competition, ‘Wet Meh Down’, ‘Soca Inside Meh’ and many others. She loves to mouth her favourite quotes: “Love + Peace = Happiness”, and “It’s better to have loved and lost than to never love at all”.
