Man bonded on reputed wife assault charge

CEON Barker (no address given) was placed on a bond to keep the peace for six months after a common assault charge against him was dismissed. Magistrate Alex Moore, who put him on probation at the Sparendaam Court on Wednesday, warned Barker that any breach will attract a one- month prison sentence.
It was alleged that, on May 4, at Beterverwagting, also on the East Coast of  Demerara, Barker assaulted his reputed wife, Myrtle Joseph.
He pleaded not guilty to the offence but the woman said she did not wish to offer evidence against Barker, only for him to behave in a proper manner with her.
