CANU ranks find man & marijuana under his bed
CUSTOMS Anti-Narcotics Unit (CANU) officers carrying out a raid on a city home found the occupant hiding under a bed, and leaves, seeds and stems of the cannabis (marijuana) plant elsewhere in the house. CANU Special Prosecutor Donald Downer recalled the May 4 incident yesterday when Sherwin Duncan, 36, of Lot 276 West Ruimveldt, Georgetown appeared before Acting Chief Magistrate Priya Sewnarine-Beharry.
The defendant pleaded not guilty to having trafficked in 3.052 kilogrammes of the narcotic, and at the request of the Prosecutor, was remanded to prison, as no special reasons were advanced for bail.
The Prosecutor said that on seeing the CANU ranks, Duncan ran inside the house; and, upon entering, they found him under his bed, below which the marijuana was found in a container.
The defendant will make another court appearance on May 10.
