Ansa McAl once again supports Golden Jaguars

ON Wednesday in a simple ceremony at the Ansa McAl office, the company handed over an undisclosed sum of money to the Guyana Football Federation (GFF) to assist the Golden Jaguars (GJ) in their quest for World Cup qualification.
Present were Managing Director of Ansa McAl Ms.Beverly Harper, president of the GFF Franklin Wilson (ag) and General Secretary of GFF Noel Adonis.
Commenting on the company’s donation was the GFF boss, who thanked Harper on behalf of the Federation and the team.
He said: “Both the GFF and Ansa McAl share in the belief that, with coordinated efforts and support of Corporate Guyana and the Yellow-Jersey Guyanese football fraternity and those in the Diaspora, coupled with the continued determination and high quality performances of the GJ staff and team, it is possible for the GJ to go all the way and be among the finalists in Brazil in 2014.”

The president continued by stating that the company’s partnership with the GFF is a source of significant satisfaction to them and it is not only their contribution to payment of bills which is quite substantial but it is their willingness to provide leadership support of sport generally and football in particular.
In closing he said that the GFF welcomes the timely input which encapsulates and demonstrates more than a financial contribution to football. “It demonstrates patriotism and an interest in partnership with the GFF for the quantum leap needed for the sustained development of our sport across genders.
In Harper’s brief remarks she disclosed to the media personnel present that this is the company’s 20th year in Guyana. The Managing Director followed up by saying football is a sport that is very dear to their hearts.
“We are very proud of the Golden Jaguars; we are happy that we have been able to support them through good and bad and we thank the guys for giving the Guyanese public something to be proud of,” she said.
To prove the company dedication, she recapped on the Guyana team from the 1980 which was a formidable squad that absconded in Mexico that they had fully supported. She noted that since then persons have not wanted to put much support behind the team but they have stood firm because of their love for the sport and for the Jaguars.
The Golden Jaguars will be making history when they begin the third round of the FIFA 2014 World Cup Qualifiers on June 8.
