Sunsplash Resort saves the day

A KALEIDOSCOPE of brilliant colours filled the air as children with bright and smiling faces were flying their marvellous kites that were of all shapes and sizes in the blue sky on No. 63 beach on the Corentyne. Pedestrians traversed  the beach to observe what concessionaires had on sale while others were sporting and dancing to the melodious music that pervaded the atmosphere. The No. 63 beach ‘extravaganza’ was hot as ever with thousands packed on the beach enjoying themselves to the extent. We must also observe Christ has risen, symbolizing the kites.
But while this was happening, the No.63 beach management failed once again to operate efficiently and effectively towards visitors on the beach. Ms. Ebony Narpatty who wrote last year in the Guyana Chronicle, ‘Easter Monday on 63 Beach’, had identified how the beach should be managed by the traffic police for this year and so on, but nothing occurred. She even made a map this year that she gave to traffic police around but nothing has been done. To my surprise there were some police officers walking up and down and looked as if they did not know what they were doing.
When I spoke to one of them, he also told me they were not instructed specifically what to do, but they just know they have to look at traffic.  However, there was widespread confusion regarding traffic on the beach, and some of us revellers were left marooned on the beach as there was no way out when the water rose.
However there is a solution to every problem. I know God was with me during this time and as the high tide was rushing in, the answer was in a Mr. Brijbassie who was kind enough to allow us who were left marooned, to enter his “Sunsplash resort’ which is also on the beach. All gratitude to the owners of this resort for their kindness.
