Minister Nandlall distributes 2,000 kites to East Coast children

-as part of PPP/C administration’s Easter tradition
MINISTER of Legal Affairs and Attorney General, Anil Nandlall, as part of the People’s Progressive Party/ Civic’s Easter tradition, spent Saturday on the East Coast Demerara, visiting several communities, and distributing kites to children.
The Minister visited Pigeon Island, La Bonne Intention, Mon Repos, Lusignan-Good Hope, Annandale, Strathspey and Cane Grove, and distributed approximately 2,000 kites.
Minister Nandlall said that the annual distribution, being spearheaded by President Donald Ramotar, has seen several Ministers, Members of Parliament (MPs) and PPP/C Leaders fanning out into the villages across the administrative regions to ensure at least every child in almost every village will have a kite for Easter.
The minister said that emphasis is placed on assisting those children who may not be able to afford a kite.
In presenting the kites, the minister cautioned the beneficiaries to ensure they are flown in open spaces, away from electric wires.
He counselled them on the dangers that could result, should they not adhere to the warning.
“We hope open spaces will be used, we hope the seawalls will be used and the playgrounds,” the minister said.
The kite distribution exercise is a continuing tradition that started under Former President Bharrat Jagdeo.
Over Thursday and part of Saturday, First Lady Deolatchmee Ramotar visited several communities on the East Coast and in the City to distribute kites.

Minister of Local Government and Regional Development, Ganga Persaud was in Region Three, Saturday where he handed out a large number of kites to the children.  (GINA)
