CHARGED with using abusive language to Claire Thomas on March 26 last at Ruimveldt, Greater Georgetown, Gregory John (no address given) pleaded guilty before Georgetown Magistrate Hazel Octive-Hamilton, but explained to the court that the virtual complainant was the mother of his daughter, and on the day of the incident, he went to visit his child and found her sitting in front of the yard with her mother, and when he called the girl, she refused to come to him. John admitted to not supporting the child, but claimed she was still his daughter, and he loved her very much and wished to get closer to her, but she resented him.
The man claimed that Thomas encourages his daughter not to speak to him, and in a fit of rage, he lost control and verbally abused the woman for keeping the child away from him.
Magistrate Hamilton considered his situation and advised him to be patient in relation to the child getting closer to him. She then reprimanded and discharged him after he vowed never to commit such a mistake again.
