Hitting the nail on the head

I AM writing with reference to a letter from M. Khan which appeared in the Guyana Chronicle on March 28, 2012, on the perception expressed thus “it is obvious that Mr. Sam does not have the emotional temperament and maturity, professional experience and skills to fulfil the rules of his present position”. The letter writer, M. Khan, was alluding to a dismal performance by Chief Education Officer, Olato Sam during a meeting he (Sam) had with teacher’s of the Guyana Teachers Union, South Georgetown branch and, according to M. Khan, there were several things that disturbed him about what was said by Olato Sam including referring to children who are unmotivated to learn as “knuckle heads”.

I am satisfied that the conclusions M. Khan arrived at on the incompetence of CEO Olato Sam and other officers of the ministry in not being able to motivate students to learn, hits the nail on the head, as the saying goes.

As the sitting chairman of the President’s College Board of Governors, I remain amazed that Olato Sam has given himself the latitude to pronounce upon the virtues of myself and my Board without ever meeting or engaging in any dialogue whatsoever with me and members of the board.

I have other issues of unprofessional nature which will remain unmentioned at this time.
