A distinguished son of the soil

I TOOK a bow and shook my head after perusing SN captioned report dated March 8, 2012 “I have been blacklisted by the National Gallery.” It has always been my personal belief that when opportunities present themselves, one should hold on so tight and make every effort not to let go, especially when it’s educational and for personal development.
It’s a great loss for aspiring artists of Guyana not having the opportunity of viewing the masterpieces of International Artist, Mr. Jorge Bowenforbes (NWS, AWS, DF).
Yes, from a private audience with this distinguished son of the soil, it was a great honour and I was very fortunate to view some of his international award winning masterpieces and perused books which carried his work.
Being 99.9 percent certain, I believe that he is the only Guyanese to be listed in Marquis (since 1899) Who’s who in the world.

With such distinctions achieved by Mr. J. Bowenforbes (NWS,AWS, DF), I honestly believe that Guyana needs to roll out the red carpet for such a distinguished and internationally recognised artist.

To the Managing Committee of the National Gallery, you have disappointed me.
