Bowl Off for Everest Ground on Saturday; 942 teams, 30M in prizes
THE Third Edition of the GT&T 10/10 Nationwide male and female softball cricket competition, organised by the Guyana Softball League in association with the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sport is set to commence this weekend with matches around Guyana and the traditional Bowl Off set for the Everest Cricket Ground, Camp Road and Carifesta Avenue, on Saturday from 09:00hrs. Being held under the theme “It’s Our Game”, this year a total of 942 teams have registered to compete – 116 female 826 male. Inclement weather over the past few weeks has delayed the start but teams have been capitalising on the extra time to ensure that they are fully prepared for what is anticipated to be very competitive competitions. While the Bowl Off at the Everest Cricket Ground will attract the presence of  Minister of Sport Dr Frank Anthony along with CEO of GT&T Yog Mahadeo among other dignitaries, competition games will also be played at other venues across Guyana with the fixtures being published in the Chronicle newspapers tomorrow and Friday.
Teams will be battling for $30M in prizes and other incentives while fans will also cash in on the many giveaways (ipods, ipads, BlackBerry phones, flat screen TVs, free credit) apart from the grand prize of one Tacoma SUV.
