Services crush Mines 7-0; Maintenance stop Operations 2-0 to reach final
GENERAL Services stunned defending champions Mines 2-0 while Plant Maintenance, led by a hat-trick of goals from Mark Louis, crushed Plant Operations 7-0 – all goals coming in the first half when the semifinals of the Bosai Minerals Group Guyana Inc. Inter-Departmental football championship semifinals were played on Saturday night at the Mackenzie Sports Club ground.
The two sides will now contest the final set for Saturday at the same venue.
Playing in front of a good crowd which supported the Linden bauxite operations’ Sports Department-organised tournament, Plant Maintenance showed their superior skills in a lopsided win.
Mark Louis was on target when he scored the opening goal in the 12th minute and teammate Ryan Noel made it 2-0 when he breached the Operations’ defence in the 20th minute.
Two minutes later Louis was able to score his second goal then five minutes after in the 27th minute, Louis blasted home his third goal of the match to send his side up 4-0.
Arthur Bynoe got into the act shooting in goal number 5 in the 33rd minute and one minute later Keith Gilkes added to the problems for Plant Operations with a goal which came in the 34th minute, for a 6-0 score.
Orin Scott then finished off the proceedings with the seventh goal of the game in the 44th minute.
