Edwards blasts England to win

ENGLAND’S women registered another comfortable victory over New Zealand, this time to win the second one-day international at Lincoln.
A brilliant unbeaten knock of 137 by the in-form Charlotte Edwards proved the difference in a rain-affected match which the tourists claimed by 59 runs on the Duckworth-Lewis method.
The result means England now hold an unassailable 2-0 lead in the three-match series, completing their total dominance of New Zealand so far this tour, having already secured a whitewash in their five-match Twenty20 series.
The hosts won the toss at the Bert Sutcliffe Oval and opted to bowl first after rain had delayed the start of the match, limiting each side to 28 overs each.
Edwards, who hit 74 in the first ODI, was imperious at the crease, blasting her way to 137 off just 88 balls.
Support was lacking – Sarah Taylor (39) and Laura Marsh (15) were the only others to make double figures – but propelled by Edwards England notched 219-6 off their allotted overs.
New Zealand failed to match that blistering run rate and despite Amy Satterthwaite’s admirable 69, they fell short in the chase and were all out for 164.
Anya Shrubsole was the pick of the English bowlers, picking up figures of 3-28 as the tourists continued their remarkable run in New Zealand.
