Rain & waterlogged grounds force GT&T to reschedule 10/10

CONSISTENT rainfall over the past 36 hours has forced GT&T and the Guyana Softball League (GSL) to postpone the much anticipated start of the GT&T 10/10 Nationwide cricket competition which was due to start at the Everest Cricket Club Ground this weekend with the bowl-off. The unpredictable rainy weather left most parts of the city and other parts of Guyana under water which effectively will make it impossible for grounds to be ready and in tip-top shape for the start of the competition proper.
Teams have been raring to go but will have to be a bit more patient before the start and will do well to keep their focus and mental resilience going. Competition will get cracking next weekend while the fixtures will be released shortly.
Ground preparations in the various areas across the length and breadth of Guyana have been on target with venues being clipped and spruced up – Berbice, Linden, Demerara, Essequibo.
Representatives of the GSL and GT&T have been visiting the various areas to ensure that all systems are in place for what is anticipated to be a very competitive and enthralling competition featuring both male and female teams as they battle for over $30M in cash and other incentives.
Both players and fans will cash in, with teams promising a higher level of competition. Fans can also win a customised Toyota Tacoma along with phones, Ipads, MP3s and free credit among other attractive prizes.
Male defending champions Wolf Warriors of West Coast Demerara are eager to get on with it but like the others, will have to hold a little bit longer. New female champs will be crowned this year.
The other corporate entities partnering with GT&T for this 3rd edition are Banks DIH, King’s Jewellery World, Guyana Lottery, Gizmos & Gadgets, NCN, Impressions and Cell Phone Shack
