Fallen utility pole snarls traffic at Better Hope

TRAFFIC on the East Coast Highway in the vicinity of  Better Hope, East Coast Demerara was snarled yesterday shortly after 1 pm, when a utility pole bearing both the Guyana Telephone and Telegraph Company (GT&T) and Guyana Power and Light (GPL) wires collapsed, leaving wires strewn on the carriageway at Better Hope, East Coast Demerara. However, staffers from GPL were shortly on the scene, disconnecting the electricity from the area.
The police were also there, manning traffic, which was confined to one lane going up the lower East Coast Demerara, as the other lane was blocked by the hanging wires on the road.
